So many things are happening in our world today. Yet many Christians seem shocked and bewildered about current events. Many don’t see things coming and are frightened about the future. Jesus seemed a little perturbed at the people that they did not know how to discern the signs of the times.
54 And He was also saying to the crowds, “Whenever you see a cloud rising [in the west, you immediately say, ‘A shower is coming,’ and so it turns out. 55 And whenever you feel a [al]south wind blowing, you say, ‘It will be a hot day,’ and it turns out that way. 56 You hypocrites! You know how to analyze the appearance of the earth and the sky, but how is it that you do not know how to analyze this present time? Luke 12:54-56 NASB
So why is it that we don’t know how to analyze the season that we are in right now? Well, we actually can if we apply some principles found in God’s word. Remember the bible has simple principles that are revealed by the Holy Spirit to those who approach it as a little child.
Here’s the principle and then I will give you a few examples. I challenge you to do your own bible research for more examples.
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body; 43 it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 45 So also it is written: “The first man, Adam, became a living person.” The last Adam was a life-giving spirit. 46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual. 47 The first man is from the earth, earthy; the second man is from heaven. 48 As is the earthy one, so also are those who are earthy; and as is the heavenly one, so also are those who are heavenly. 49 Just as we have borne the image of the earthy, we will also bear the image of the heavenly. 1Corinthians 15: 42-49 NASB
However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual.
The principle states that whatever happens in the natural first, will also then happen in the spirit. So, turn your TV back on and watch the news. You need to be aware of current events that are happening in the natural because the spiritual “twin” is about to follow. Now I’m not saying that you have to become a news junkie, but you cannot hide your head in the sand either. Current events give you a preview of upcoming spiritual events. Let me say that again. Current events give you a preview of upcoming spiritual events.
For example:
A. In the natural we have recently had horrific flooding in areas of the country that have never seen such flooding. Even in places like Louisiana the flooding was particularly bad this year. So, look for there to be a flooding and upheaval in the spirit to those who have been waiting and have not experienced the blessings of God in hurricane proportions.
B. Two unseated teenagers are playing in the U S Open Tennis final this year. No one even knew their names before this. Look for God to raise up the younger generation out of seemingly nowhere who will do exploits in His name.
C. The world has had massive deaths from the Covid-19 virus for the past 21 months. Death in the spiritual realm is sleep. Remember Jesus said “Let’s go see Lazarus because He is asleep.” (My paraphrase) Even now there are many who are asleep and need an awakening to the gospel of Christ. The church is asleep too. How can I tell? Because they continue to put their efforts and passion into fighting in the natural (masks and vaccine mandates) instead of in the spirit (fighting the spirit of death, spirit of infirmity, drawing a line in the sand with the blood of Jesus, global repentance and revival).
OK so do you get the picture? Can you find more examples of what is happening in the spiritual world based on what is in the natural? We don’t have to walk through this blindly. We can choose to agree with what the Lord is doing by adding our prayers to what He is doing.
